Capturing those precious moments is what I love to do!! From your baby bump to the 1st year and beyond is magical for every family!!!
Newborns are typically 5-14 days old when they come into the studio. They sleep better and are able to bend and fold into those cute poses. After 2 weeks newborns tend to have a growth spurt and they tend to have "more awake" time and not wanting to sleep like they did the first two weeks. Keeping in mind some babies spend time in the NICU and in that case we make arrangements to get them in once released. Having me on your list of contacts after baby is born, early or late helps me find a suitable day to get them photographed.
What to Expect at your Newborn Session
Your newborn session can last anywhere from 2-4 hours. This is common. Babies are not used to being undressed and wrapped like we do. This is why we love them sleepy. Studio will be very warm. It will be close to 80 degrees. This is to keep baby comfortable and warm to sleep. Expect to nurse or feed more than you normally do. These sessions are all about patience. They are 75% settling and 25% shooting. Some babies are fast and some make me work for it and that is ok!! You are welcome to bring a coffee and snacks and then sit back and relax!!
So how do you book?
The Phone Call: Let’s book a phone call. What? Yes, a phone call. This way, we can chat about when you are expecting, and I can address any questions you have. We’ll chat about your vision and get your date reserved so that you can get back to planning the important stuff, like your baby’s arrival.
The Preparation Phase: I love coming up with creative ideas, but I also love hearing my clients' ideas so that we can bring your session to life. Feel free to share images with me prior to the session so that I can understand your vision
The Shoot itself: I take the stress out of having your newborn photos taken by providing you with a full service experience. From In-Studio to Hair & Makeup with Frances to creating the most beautiful heirlooms for your home, we provide you with the best photos you’ve seen of yourself and your loved ones and preserve your legacy in printed photographs.
Delivering Your Images: Your images will be ready within 30 days of your session so that you can get your products ordered whether you are going to design you home or get something for the proud grandparents. After you have viewed your gallery proofs, we will talk about how you would like to customize your images. I’ll help you customize a collection that is right for you.
To book your session, I require a $200 non-refundable retainer to secure your session date & time, as well as reserve your Hair & Makeup artist. This retainer goes toward your chosen Collection. Once your payment is received, all you need to do is to sit back and relax and enjoy the experience! The rest of the payment is due the week before your session. If you'd like to add additional items to your collection, you can do so. It is awesome to see what people do with their images. Some choose Metal Art or Canvases to send out to family & some choose Matted Prints, others add on additional images. It is so beautiful to catch this moment and hold it for a lifetime and more.
